Zakat, Aid and Charity Assisting Humanity (ZACAH) is a Minnesota-based, 501c(3), grassroots organization dedicated to the collection and re-distribution of wealth, including Zakat (mandatory charitable tax for all Muslims) and Sadaqah (any donations), within our Minnesota community. Our work is grounded in the Islamic principle that wealth does not belong to the individual, but rather to God, and those with excess income or wealth are mandated to use it for the sake of supporting their communities and bettering the world.
We intend to support low-income and working-class people in Minnesota with direct financial aid, especially those facing poverty, the threat of eviction and displacement, and unsheltered homelessness.
ZACAH is unlike most non-profits. We are run exclusively by dedicated volunteers. Our only operational costs are those related to our small transitional home for women and children, and our bookkeeping. When you donate to ZACAH, please know that 98% of your donation will be used for direct assistance.
As a grassroots organization with no large donors, grants or corporate funding, we are 100% reliant on your trust and support. Please join us in weaving the bonds of a stronger community.
“The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: It grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives increase many times over to
whom He pleases; And Allah is Enough, All Knowing.” (2: 261)
